ACADEMICS

Here at Owl Learning, we strive to cultivate the minds of our young learners in various subject fields. We hope to expand their horizon of knowledge, build confidence, and fuel their passion for academics.

  • Kindergaten
Students will develop a solid foundation for mathematics for the years to come. They will learn to count and recognize numbers, identify shapes and their attributes, add and subtract numbers, and complete patterns. This course will cover all aspects of kindergarten math.
  • First Grade
First grade math concepts cover a range of topics. Students will learn to use estimation skills to explain measurement, and they will cover how to use different traditional measuring tools for taking measurements of objects. They will learn how to measure all aspects of circles, prisms, and pyramids.
  • Second Grade
Second grade mathematics is about extending understanding of base-ten notation, building fluency with addition and subtraction, using standard units of measure, and describing and analyzing shapes. Children will begin to work with larger numbers and develop a stronger understanding of place value. Students also learn everyday skills like telling time, working with money, and measuring.
  • Third Grade
In Grade 3 math, students will learn and demonstrate their ability to perform basic mathematical functions and solve problems related to graphs, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic geometry, fractions, measurement, decimals, and probability.
  • Fourth Grade
During Grade 4 math course, students will learn how to perform basic mathematical functions and solve problems in the areas of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and geometry.
  • Fifth Grade
Grade 5 focuses on key advancements from previous years. Students will develop proficiency with addition and subtraction of fractions, and develop an understanding of multiplication and division of fractions in certain cases. Also, they will be integrating decimal fractions into the place value system and developing proficiency with operations with whole numbers and decimals to hundredths. Students will also develop an understanding of volume. Furthermore, Grade 5 students will review and practice basic mathematical operations and techniques for solving problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and also learn ratios, and proportions.
